Turkish Spring

Turkish Spring
Protests have been breaking out all over Turkey. The original issue had to do with some urban planning decisions around Istanbul's popular Taksim Square and the tyrannical way in which the government shoved its decisions down the peoples' collective throats.

Thanks to the so-called "secular" government's decision to handle the demonstrations very roughly, the whole thing devolved into a violent series of protests across the country against the govt's covert agenda to turn Turkey into a devout Islamic state, thus translating into heaving restrictions on dress code, alcohol consumption, work rules around prayer, etc. Ripples were felt even here in sleepy Didim as a protest march made its way over to the seaside restaurant where we were supping. Thankfully it dissipated peacefully. Yet another demonstration last night. Who knows where this will lead?
