Back in Turkey, we hopped on a puddle-jumper over to Izmir, then a bus to Didim where Oya's parents met us beaming ear to ear with award-winning grins. We strolled a half-block home where a youtube sensation caught up with us: a goat came clippity-cloppety galoping over in full bleat mode. Clear to see her parents are simply gaga over Oya and tickled that she is home among them.
Great to see Oya enjoying her parents and family so. If you thought Oya was quiet, you've never seen her around her cousins! Suddenly the tables were turned and I was silent as a mouse while Oya's chops were running a mile a minute. Loving it!
It didn't take long before Oya's mum rolled out her home-rustled Turkish fare. If only the good folks at Michelin knew about this well-kept Muslu family secret, they'd surely give her gastronomy the highest star rating.
So exciting. Oya got to eyeball her brand spanking new condo for the very first time. It's a huge, uber-modern, gorrrrgeous two-storey condo. Nestled on the top floor of the building, the terrace is a fantastic.
Killer view from the terrace out onto the brand new mosque a few blocks downhill in the downtown core. In the bottom right corner of the pic is another minoret belonging to a smaller mosque. When the littler mosque's imam cannot make it, the bigger mosque blasts the call to prayer from both the large and small mosques, thereby creating the funkiest reverb effect. There are a couple of banks of loudspeakers surrounding the top and middle balconies of each minoret, cranking out the imam's chants. You'd have to be mighty hard of hearing to miss it.
More of Eusjun Hanem's good eats. So sweet of her to make me dessert. Yummmmm.
Awesome panorama downhill beyond the new mosque to the confluence of the agean and mediteranean seas with mountains surrounding the peninsula.
